How do I change the index format of a multi-level list in a Confluence document?

I was updating my multi-level list in a Confluence document (draft), and as I pressed the TAB key, I expected my multi-level list to look like this:

1.  Text

2.  Text

      a.

Instead, it looks like this:

1.  Text

2.  Text

    1.

Please advise as to how I can change the '1' to 'a'.  Thanks.

Hey @John Bottiger

Are you on Cloud, Server or Data Centre?

It's an odd incident because on our Cloud Confluence (most basic version possible with no Apps/Plug-Ins it's standard for Number then Letter is tab is applied.

Silly question, but have you removed the bullet function completely, then reapplied it step-by-step?

I am on the Atlassian Server I believe.

I'm not sure how I would go about reapplying the bullets and numbering on it.  My format goes like this:

  • Main item
    1. Subitem 1
    2. Subitem 2
      1. Sub-subitem a (index shows '1' as shown, but should be 'a' ).

Thanks.

If you're on Server immediately contact your Atlassian Admin (if your company has one) so that they can look into. Sounds like a setting issue, I just don't know where exactly as I'm, not in your system...

Could be in a Blueprint (Spaces settings) but might have been edited on a more global level.

As you know it should go:

1. Number

    a. Letter

        i. Roman numeral

            1. Number (again, and etc).

I actually went ahead and created a new document (blank page).  From there, I copied-pasted the items from the old document, after creating each index line, one at a time.  It's tedious, but until I have THE solution, this is mainly a workaround for me.

Ah.... and the workaround is working now? Sounds a bit like a bug... formatting got itself confused.
Is the page content heavy!?

It seems to be working--the workaround that is.

I figured since the content is only a page and maybe 2-3 lines on page 2, it's better than potentially waiting for an answer as everyone's apparently busy (which is understandable, no worries).

Thanks again.

Irritating to have to do the workaround. :o( Better than nothing. Good luck with it!!
