I have the free cloud version of Confluence and would like to know if I can configure the sidebar to always show the document tree and not just the most recently modified pages?

Or is this something that needs the cloud standard version?

Hello Craig,

Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's nice to meet you!

In Confluence, there's the global sidebar, and the space sidebar. If you want to know more about the differences, have a look at the page The Sidebar in our Confluence Cloud documentation.

The sidebar I believe you are referring to is the space sidebar. It's still possible to configure the space sidebar in the Cloud Free version, provided you are the space administrator.

By default, the space sidebar will show:

  • The name of your space
  • Space overview page (home page)
  • Space blog
  • Space settings
  • Any shortcuts you've added to the space
  • The space page tree (Document tree, as you have referred to it.)

In the Space Settings, it's possible to toggle the overview and blog pages on or off.

Can you let me know if this is the sidebar you are referring to? You said yours shows the most recently modified pages by default, but I'm not able to get my sidebar to do that at all.

It's also possible that you're one of the early customers with the New navigation. Therefore, if you don't recognize my example, can you review the page there and let me know if one of the sidebars there looks more recognizable?

Thank you!

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I'm getting the same issue as Craig.

I can see the view of the screenshot you posted above but what I am looking for is the ability to hide all the options and just show the page tree in the sidebar.

It looks like certain versions of confluence have a sidebar functionality like the s/shot below but I'm not to sure how you get there from the view you posted above.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, J
