On my space homepage there is a "Most Viewed Documents" section that indicates I can provide a link to the most viewed documents by typing "/link". However, when I follow these instructions I am provided with a generic hyperlink window with no obvious way to query the documents for viewer statistics. I would love to include this section on the homepage but I'm not sure what to do. Am I missing something obvious?
@Rachael Gresham this one had me stumped for a bit, but I finally think I figured it out.
First, I didn't realize that your space was a Documentation space, which is why I was confused by your screenshots. The screen you posted is the template for documentation space.
Then, I was equally confused by the default text that Atlassian chose for Most Viewed Documents. It seems that this tool should be just like Recently Updated, which populates a dynamic list of the most recently updated pages in a space. But it's not.
All the page template is suggesting here is that the admin (you) create a list of the most viewed documents by listing them in this section using the /link macro. This would have to be a list of documents you know users are commonly accessing, or documents you want them to access. It would create a static list of links based on each document or page you insert - which can be updated manually at any time.
I hope this helps. If it does, please upvote my answer and mark it as accepted!
Thanks!
Andy,
Thank you for the response. You confirmed my suspicions; it initially seemed like this is something that should work similarly to the Recently Updated tool, but as you mentioned it doesn't actually work that way. I don't see the benefit of manually linking documents and suggesting they are the most viewed, but I can rename the section to more appropriately represent the collection I end up providing there.
Thanks again for looking into this and for the sanity check; I was afraid there was something I was overlooking.

@Rachael Gresham I'd love to (try to) help! Can you post a screenshot of the text or prompt that you are trying to follow? I see the screenshot of the link macro, but would like to see the prompt telling you that you can add a link to the Most Viewed Documents.
Also, are you on Cloud, Server or Data Center edition?

Hi Andy,
It's actually that first screenshot in my post, but here's another screenshot with more context (the prompt is highlighted). I am on the Cloud version.
