Hello everybody,
I have read through several instructions in Jira and Confluence documentations, unfortunately I've not found what is relevant to me.
I know how and where to change the blueprints/templates. However, I would like to edit the "dynamic JIRA report template". For Example, there are 4 widgets (pie charts) in the standard Dynamic JIRA report template. I would like to expand this or also, for example, use new "Jira issue / filter" macros. These should then show the results to the JQL query, which I use in the wizard when creating a new page based on this blueprint.
My goal is, to enter the JQL (with the issues I expect) once at the beginning by creating a new page using the template (wizard) and in the end, the JIRA dynamic report template will show me everything, with the widgets and macros that I previously saved in the blueprint in the template.
Can someone help me with that or send me a detailed documentation? Or do I need Jira programming skills to handle this?
Thank you and best regards
Ersin
Hello Ersin,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
You won't be able to modify the Blueprints without programming knowledge, but you can modify the individual templates within the Blueprint. So essentially, what you see in the Confluence editor after creating a page using the Blueprint is what you are able to edit.
You can customize the templates used by this blueprint. The Change Log uses the Snapshot Jira Report Template (for static list of issues) and the Dynamic Jira Report Template, and the Status Report uses the Status Report Template.
See Customizing the blueprint templates. Variables represent the Jira Issues and Jira Chart Macros. While these can't be edited, they can be moved around the page or deleted if you don't want every chart to be included.
You can also choose to edit the page template to modify the format of the page, change some headings, or modify the instructional text. To See Instructional text to find out more about using instructional text in templates.
Go ahead and edit your template using the procedure linked above, and do let me know if you have any trouble.
Regards,
Shannon
Hi Shannon,
thank you for your response. I was looking for how to customize the blueprint templates. As I can see there is the possibility to change it like WYSIWYG but not to change any variables in details. For Example, I can not create a Jira-Filter which shows me all issues of a parent-issue, which i am going to define while creating a new page using this template - am I correct? For this purpose I have programming skills, but I can not find a documentary of "how to" to change in programming way. May you have a link for these pages?
Best Regards
Ersin

Hello Ersin,
Thank you for confirming that. It's not possible to change the existing variables but you can add new ones. CONFSERVER-30567 is our feature request for that; you can watch it if you want to be updated of any changes.
In terms of modifying the Blueprint itself programmatically, we don't have further documentation on that besides the one I sent earlier that's more generic about developing Blueprints: Confluence Blueprints
You might want to ask at the Atlassian Developer Community if you want to make modifications outside of the individual templates.
Regards,
Shannon
