How to make some tabs in my Confluence Cloud pages

lintek214 November 4, 2022

I just started using Confluence Cloud (free plan) tonight. I learned after much trial and error that I can't add a calendar because I'm using the free plan. Really? Atlassian wants money for a calendar. Oh well. I also wanted to add some tabs to my pages. No tabs either for the free plan? Or am I missing a step. I clicked the drop list and typed tabs, but nothing was found.

Hi @lintek214

Welcome to the Community!

For something like tabs in the pages, you'll more than likely have to leverage an app. If you navigate to https://<your-site>.atlassian.net/wiki/marketplace/discover you can search through available apps in the marketplace.

Most vendors offer free licenses for free tier sites under 10 users like this one. and some are free altogether like this one.

@lintek214  if your team is under 10 team members you use most of the plugins from Atlassian Marketplace for free.

A few other options you can try for tabs are apps that allow adding tab marcos:

Let me know if you need any further help or information, these apps are developed by my team.

Kind regards,

Zoriana

Hi @lintek214

Last time I checked, Tabs aren't a native feature with out-of-the-box Confluence Cloud (regardless of which plan you're on).

To Luis's point, if you absolutely have to use tabs then there are Atlassian Marketplace apps you could use to accomplish this. The vast majority of them are paid with many of them offering free licenses for under 10 users.

The only free app I found that allows you to create tabs for free (regardless if you're under or over 10 users) was Tabs+ Lite for Confluence Cloud. Having never used this app before, my curiosity got the best of me after I found it, so I decided to try it out myself. I created a quick demo GIF for you as I was checking it out. See below as to how it functions/looks like.

Technically, it does what its supposed to — and that too for free. Does it have the best user experience? Probably not.

There's another Macro you could use (as a workaround?) which is the Expand macro that comes with Confluence. It allows expandable/collapsable sections of text on your page.
