How to move a table within a page

I have two tables within a Confluence page, and I now want to move one of them so it comes before the other. How do I move a table without rebuilding it from scratch?

Position you cursor before the first table. Then hit shift + down until you select the whole table. Then ctrl+x or command+x to cut the table. Then just paste it where you want it.

I wasn't having much luck selecting with mouse, but as you described, if you're careful to ensure you select the entire table, cut and paste does work. It's too bad you can't just drag them around like you do with macros.

It's totally goofy that mouse select STILL doesn't work for this but this workaround saved me, thanks!

Anyone has the ticket number for this bug, so I can upvote it?

@Davin Studer

Position you cursor before the first table. Then hit shift + down until you select the whole table. Then ctrl+x or command+x to cut the table.

2018: It does not work anymore.

I found this as well.  It will move the content of the table but you lose the table formatting.  Table functionality in Confluence is definitely sub-par with other tools.  This needs attention.

Interesting.  I've used cut/paste numerous times, never lost formatting.  My one "trick" to ensure I get it all is to have a character (or blank line via hitting RETURN) before and after the table.  Then just hold down the left-hand mouse button while scrolling to select it all.

I had Leanne's problem where the formatting of the table was lost. I used Bill's technique and added a random character before and after the table. I then highlighted the random characters and the sandwiched table, and was able to cut/paste the table into a different place on the same page.  Whew.

Strange... my attempt at using Shift + Down only works with Text.  When I continue to click down... the text remains highlighted however the table never receives any focus and remains untouched and is not highlighted with the text.

I was however able to add a new character just after my table... and then using my mouse I started with the Mouse Click and drag up over my table and into the Header Text above my table... I Cut and Pasted the text and the table without issue.  Not sure why just using the keyboard wouldn't highlight the table as mentioned in other posts here.

I used Bill's method to move a complete table using the mouse and Cut and Paste.

I've had difficulty creating a new table using rows cut from another table but found a workaround. I was doing this to a group of pages after I 'discovered' the Page Properties macro. The Paste Rows Above tool relies on the insertion point being inside a table so the trick here is to insert a blank single-row table with the right number of columns, paste rows above the blank row and then delete the blank row.

I cannot believe I spent so long trying to do that, and it was that simple. Thank you!
How do they do not allow mouse select, or have a proper button for it still amazes me.
