How to pre-format text to be bold?

What is the best way to make text bold now? I used to put the "Asterix" in front and at the end of the "bold" area but now it makes the text "italic" :-/

Strange behavior. Things are not working as explained in https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-confluence-wiki-markup/

Workaround:
You can try adding double * or double  _ _

Example: **Hello**

Try with double asterisk sign at start and end of the text. Worked for me.
