Dear all,
I am interested in an instruction on how to re-initialize a complete confluence site with the data, that has been generated with the cloud backup in XML-Type.
So far I could only encounter instructions on how to set up new spaces from XML data.
Bests,
Tom
Hi @Thomas Lautenbacher If you'd like to automate your backups and have on-demand recovery features for your Confluence instance, Rewind has a marketplace app for Confluence Backups & Restores
Rewind is SOC 2 (Type 2) and GDPR compliant and trusted by more than 100,000 companies worldwide. Rewind also provides backup and recovery solutions for Jira, GitHub, Trello, Quickbooks, Shopify and more. (You may find Rewind's G2 reviews here)
I have not tried Confluence Cloud backup and restore as of yet, until you asked the question :-)
Don't have a solution for you as of yet - have you tried the New Confluence Restore CLI?
I will try that out next.
Here is what I did, and I think I am running into the issue which you have:
1. Did a backup using a the Backup Manager - https://YOURSITE.atlassian.net/wiki/plugins/servlet/ondemandbackupmanager/admin
2. Dowloaded the zip file "Site_Backup.zip"
3. Tried importing it back - ofcourse the UI is asking for spaces, I get the below error, given that the expected format is incorrect.
I don't know how to convert the xml file to a space format

I don't think Confluence Cloud supports it.
You can use the Confluence Migration Assistant if you have access to the source instance and it's on DC or Server.
That's similar if you're merging two Confluence Cloud Sites; you first migrate to DC, then use the assistant to migrate.

Also, I would open a support request with Atlassian to confirm the best approach to your case.
Cheers,
Melo

Thank you for your answer. I wonder if there might be a smoother way to proceed with reupload. I've contacted Atliassian support.
