I'm trying to save a Word doc I imported into Confluence as a template. I know I can't directly import as template. However, I read somewhere that I can save pages as templates. How can I do this? I don't see a "Save as Template" option on the page or when I edit it.
Hi @Clifton Knight ,
Templates are only able to be created at a space, or instance level. In order to create the template, you'll probably want to have two tabs open. The first tab to hold the edit view of the word document you uploaded, the second to navigate to the template creation page.
For Space specific templates, you need to be a Space administrator. Navigate to Space Settings, and then "Look And Feel". You should find an option here for "Templates".
Click "Create New Template" at the top right of this page.
This will open a new, blank Confluence document. Copy the contents from the Word-uploaded Confluence page into this one, and give the page a name.
Once you hit save, the template will be available to anyone on this space. This can be found in the Templates menu when creating a new page.
Instance level templates are created in a similar way, but the menu is within the Confluence System Settings, instead of space settings. Click the cog in the top right, then under Configuration, look for "Global templates and blueprints".
It's the same idea once you get here, you'll create a global template that can be used across the entire instance.
Hope that helps!
Robert
Hello @Robert DaSilva . Thanks for the info!! Looks like my company locked down global (instance) access but I have the ability to create the template at the space level. Your answer solved my problem.

Thanks @Clifton Knight , happy to have helped! You do need to be a Product Administrator to create templates at the instance level. If your template provides sufficient value, I would recommend reaching out to the Admins (if you're not one yourself) to get it added.
Otherwise, glad we were able to get you up and running with Space Templates!
Cheers,
Robert
