Import Folder Structure & Files from ClearCase Base VOB

Hello,

I am the SDLC admin for this business and am migrating our SDLC tools from IBM Rational to Atlassian's.

We have one Base (non-UCM) VOB in ClearCase that contains folders and files.  It does not contain code.  It is solely used by our PMO, mgmt. and testers for reviewing documents about ongoing projects.  And, there are A LOT of files.  -Too many to copy manually into Confluence

Confluence would be perfect for this as its presentation layer would please mgmt & PMO.

However, I’m not sure how to migrate these folders and files from this IBM Rational ClearCase “Base (not UCM) VOB” into Confluence.  Has anyone accomplished this?  If so, can you please advise how?

Thanks much :)

Confluence doesn't have "folders", but you could create a set of pages in a tree to make it look similar.

It's also not designed as an object management system, it's a wiki.  Most of the contents of  what you've got in document files would be expected to become sets of pages.  So it doesn't really have any structure to accept a direct translation from Clearcase.

That said, you can just drag every document in as an attachment (and later, get your users to gradually convert out of document objects to proper pages).  To do this, you'll need the WebDav function enabled.  See https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/use-a-webdav-client-to-work-with-pages-200704169.html
