In the old editor, there was a text box next to Publish where users could enter what changed from one document version to the next before publishing the document. The summary of changes display in the Comments section under Page History.
In the new editor, the Comments section still exists under Page History, but I have not been able to locate documentation on how one can enter those comments. There is no longer a text box provided where we can enter those change summaries. While we can view (in detail) exactly what changed from one version to the next, it's faster to be able to just look at a quick summary, rather than read the whole document mark-up with changed text, deleted text, added text, to figure out what changed at a glance.
I'm thinking that because the GUI for Comments still exists (in Page History), there must be a way to populate it. Otherwise, why not remove that column so it's not confusing to those of us who once were able to enter that information?
