Are there any online spell check extensions that will work with Confluence cloud pages in edit mode?? I have the Grammary extention running in Firefox browser but it is unable to work with Confluence.
You can install the Grammarly add-on to your browser, and it works relatively fine in the Confluence editor.
(This is the best spell checker I've ever used. It actually does much more than just fixing typos.)
Hi Paul,
Chrome browser has a native spellcheck and I can confirm it's working with my Confluence instance.
Can you let me know if you're using Chrome, and if not, which browser? It may have its own native spellcheck that you can use instead of installing an add-on.
Regards,
Shannon

Hi Shannon, I'm using Firefox. I've checked Chrome and spell checkers works ok. Can you look at Firefox?

Hi Paul,
I can confirm that Firefox has the same feature, and it works in my instance.
You can set this in your Firefox preferences:
Can you confirm if it works for you?

Paul,
Thank you for confirming. Is it not working for you?
If not, can you let us know which editor you're using when it doesn't work? Is it the legacy editor (as it was before) or the new editor announced for Cloud?

Shannon

Hi Paul,
We're rolling out a new editor and so some instances have it already, and some do not. I'm not sure which one applies to you, but I've also tested the Firefox spellcheck using an instance that does have the new editor.
I can confirm on both that the Firefox spellcheck correctly underlines incorrectly spelled words for me.
Could you let me know what operating system you're running on, and when you say that it does not work for you, what is the behavior you're experiencing?
Regards,
Shannon

Windows 10
The behaviour is that nothing happens. There is no underlining of spelling mistakes while in the editor window.

Thanks, Paul.
I'm testing this now on a Windows 10 machine while using Firefox version 63. On both the old and new editor, the spellcheck seems to be working for me.
Would you be able to test this on another machine? I suspect it might not be an issue with Confluence but an issue with either your browser or operating system.

Shannon

Hi Shannon,
This does not work for me either in Firefox, Chrome, IE or Edge on Windows 10 Pro.
Thank you.

Hi Lee,
It is confirmed to work for Confluence Cloud in all supported browsers.
Note that only the latest stable version is supported.
If you're noticing issues with your Cloud instance, please contact support so we can have a look at your particular instance.

Shannon

The built-in Firefox spell-checker does work sketchy inside the Confluence editor. It catches some misspelled words but misses others. In all honesty, it does have problems with other HTML editors as well. Still, it's worth working with the Firefox developers to find the root cause as presumably, most Firefox users will rely on it to do their spell checking.
