Line spacing after heading H4 is wide while editing, but gone after publishing - Confluence Cloud.

Peter Gal May 8, 2025

When using Confluence Cloud , the editor displays nice spacing between a H4 heading and the next line of text - but that disappears after publishing.
See YELLOW arrows in below snap

I prefer the editor spacing but most important is to have them be the same. WYSIWYG.

Similarly in the above snap , the GREEN arrows show how a new paragraph (fullstop > enter) appears in the editor with nice spacing down to the next line , but this also disappears after publishing to live.

I prefer the editor spacing but most important is to have them be the same. WYSIWYG.

I get the same outcome using Google Chrome on Windows, using Firefox on Windows, and using Chromium on Linux.

Is this configurable ?  If not, could the folks who look after this aspect of the UI please look into it ?

Hi @Peter Gal welcome to the community.  I can see this behavior in my instance.  After searching Atlassian's Jira Site, I couldn't find any open tickets, but I could have missed something.  I'm going to flag this so Atlassian Support can weigh in on it.

I would agree with you that when you're editing the page, previewing the page, or publishing the page, the look of the page should remain the same.

Without that expectation, if you're doing many edits that require precise formatting, you're not going to get that.

Thanks for confirming.
I've maked this as answer accepted on the basis that this is a minor issue and so is unlikely to be given a "CONFCLOUD-xxxxxx" publicly visible JIRA work item , and only exists as a private work item.

Hi Peter, I went ahead and discussed this with Support.  They created CONFCLOUD-81735  on Atlassian's Jira Site.  I would appreciate if you can go out there and vote for that issue.  They put some related links to 2 other work items, but in my opinion they're related, but not the exact issue.

Thanks a bunch for progressing this.
I've voted and commented on the CONFCLOUD issue.
---
I've also tried to narrow the problem down a little further - to help with identifying  where to look within the source code.
---
It looks like the issue only occurs when there's indentation involved.
The headings don't add or detract.
Here's a screenshot showing a comparison between the editor view (at top), and the published view (at bottom), both with and without indentation.

Confirmed that CONFCLOUD-81735 is resolved, and the line spacings are the same in the editor, and after publishing.
