Hi,
I would like pull some data of an JIRA issue in the confluence page once user add jira issue/jira link to that page.
Could anyone please help me how to proceed and implement this requirement??
Hey, thanks for reaching out, @nallu!
We can surely Integrate Jira and Confluence to achieve the desired result. When we have these two applications working together, there are many features to make our workflows more dynamic and useful.
One of such features is the Issue Linking that we can put in Confluence pages using the Jira Issues Macro. We have documentation on this. Here, have a look:
Also, the copy-and-paste of issue links or filter will auto-convert when Jira and Confluence are working together:
Auto-convert pasted issue links
Auto-convert makes producing reports of issues, backlogs, and tasks as easy as copy and paste. With Jira and Confluence connected, you can paste individual issues or Jira query URLs into the editor and watch them immediately transform into the Jira issues macro.
Here you can check the full page from which this excerpt was taken from, Nallu:
One thing that is not available is the “simple mention” of issues. Typing something like ISSUEKEY-001 will not trigger the conversion.
Also, here is how the issue linking and Jira Issues Macro look like when you use them. Each screenshot has a description of what is being depicted:
Hopefully, this will shed light on your necessities, Nallu!
Hi @Diego ,
Thanks so much for the response. I have tried this Jira Issue / Filter macro already. As you said, It helps me to pull the jira data into confluence. I can even decide what column needs to be displayed. That is very cool.
But what I am looking for is, something different. here is my requirement,
In our company, we have a page template (Kind of Requirement Blueprint). Every team will use that blue print and create a new page for their team. In that template/blueprint, we have asked for the team to fill some data which is taken from a JIRA issue (from their respective JIra issue).
We are having a jira issue against each feature. That jira issue will have details about that particular FEATURE. The details are captured in some custom fields on the jira issue.
Having said that, we need to pull the custom field values and place it on the confluence page wherever we want...
Also, need to implement it as below,
1) The data should be pulled automatically once the user mention the Jira issue link. (Its ok if we have to refresh the page to do that)
2) Some cases, we want to pull data from different custom fields from a JIRA issue which is mentioned in the page, display the value in different places. I mean, we need to place the value in different places. Right now, JIRA Issue Filter just displaying the data as a single section.
Our End goal is to reduce the duplicate effort and manual work. Meaning: User already have provided the data in JIRA. If we automate these 2 cases. Then, we don't have to manually fill all the data again in confluence.
Can you please help me to achieve this?
