Lost file after removing macro Excel from the content of a Confluence page

On a Confluence page that had an Excel file attached to and that used the macro Excel to display the content on the page, a user reports that they lost the file after removing the macro from the page.

Has anybody seen something like this?

Any ideas on have I can troubleshoot for this issue?

The excel was being pulled in by the macro. If you remove it, it removes it too.

Thanks for your answer but I have actually tested that and it's not the case. It just removed the display if the files content inside the page but doing that doesn't remove the file from the attachments of the page
