Merging Jira issue filter results with manual table entries

Here is my use case for merging two tables:

  1. Table 1: Jira filter results (Parent and Epic)
  2. Table 2: For Epics, user entries reflecting sub-team estimates
  3. Sum up all the sub-team estimates
  4. Take All estimate totals and set status value based on % calculation of total versus available hours

I am currently using the Table Filter macro to sum up all the estimate entries but would like to merge with Jira filter results so people don't have to enter Jira Parent & Epic manually.

The % calculation is also being done manually, so hoping the Table Toolbox Macro can help fully automate this solution.

Greatly appreciate ideas & recommendations!

Hi @Maria Del Rosario Gonzalez ,

Indeed as you are on Cloud, the Table Toolbox macro will help you to nest several macros inside its shell.

To merge the Jira Issues macro output and manually created table, you may use the Table Transformer macro. Please check the second part of this Community question. Note that you should have a unique key column for both tables to look up them.

To perform calculations and set statuses based on them, you may use an additional Table Transformer macro. Here are several examples from our documentation.

If you are stuck, please refer to our support. Attach the page storage of your page (upper right corner -> menu... -> View Storage Format) and we'll be able to recreate your manual table and the Table Toolbox macro with the macro sequence inside its shell. The Jira Issues macro won't be visible, so please unwrap it from all the macros, publish the page and take a screenshot of the output table (attach this screenshot to the ticket as well).

Thank you so much for your response!  I'll take a look at the documentation detail and contact support if needed.

I was able to get this to work but have a follow-up question on same topic

  • T1 contains the Jira filter results and is a dynamic listing of Epics (key)
  • T2 contains manual entries User Entry 1 and User Entry 2
  • I manually entered the Epics (key) in T2
  • Table Toolbox SQL is an outer join of both tables so I can detect any differences in T1 and/or T2 and change the column labels to more user friendly names

I am wrapping the Table Toolbox in a Table filter macro so I can do summation of entries in T2 (User Entry 1 and User Entry 2).

My question:

  • Any way to have the Epic (key) in T2 auto populated or generated so you don't have to type them in?

This is a super tool and really appreciate the support!

Hi @Maria Del Rosario Gonzalez ,

Unfortunately, there is no any way to generate Epics for T2 automatically. The only macro that does it is the Jira Issues macro and it doesn't allow you to add any manually created columns in Confluence (that's why we need the Table Transformer macro firsthand).

Thank you again for the prompt response!  I even tried to nest one Table Transformer Macro into another and unfortunately that did not give me the desired result.

Nevertheless, this is an awesome tool & really appreciate having it available.

Thank you to you and the team!
