Today our organization uses the Standard plan, but we're thinking to move up and use the Premium plan.
The most appealing feature in the Premium plan is the AI. Does anyone have a good recommendation on this feature? What is it practical main usage? Can it really go through all of the existing data, and based on the existing data help better write BRDs/PRDs/ Solution documents, HLDs, get configuration & feature flag insights? Is the data shared outside the organization workspace to train the model?
Any help will be appreciated to take a knowledgable decision!

Hi @Ido Dagan Welcome to the community!

Atlassian Intelligence (AI) in the Premium plan is designed to enhance productivity, but it's important to set the right expectations for its capabilities.

Main Practical Uses of AI:

  • It can summarize Jira issues, Confluence pages, and comments, which helps in quickly understanding tickets or documents.
  • It can explain Jira queries (JQL) in plain English.
  • Assists in writing better issue descriptions, Confluence documentation, and meeting notes.
  • Can help draft BRDs/PRDs based on context but will not autonomously generate full-fledged documents from scattered data.
  • Helps detect trends in Jira issues and reports.
  • Offers insights from incident response patterns in Opsgenie.

Can it scan all existing data for insights?
  • Atlassian Intelligence works within your workspace and can pull context from existing Jira and Confluence data.
  • However, it does not automatically analyze and generate structured BRDs/PRDs/Solution documents from scattered historical data—human input is still needed.
  • If you are looking for AI-driven knowledge mining (e.g., extracting insights from past tickets/configurations), you might need additional tools or integrations like Rovo, NotebookLM, or external AI-powered document analysis tools.

Does it train on your data or share it externally?

    • No, Atlassian Intelligence does not use your data for training models outside your workspace.
    • It works with Atlassian's secure cloud environment, meaning your data remains within your organization.

If AI-powered summarization, smart drafting, automation assistance, and insights align with your needs, Premium is a good step up

One additional AI feature that I love is auto summary of changes. We use Confluence quite a lot as a shared discussion space and coming back to a page and have all changes since your last visit summarized is on its own enough to justifiy the premium price.
