I have a page with a list of outstanding action items from meetings. Under the Share settings it says the General Access is Open.
However when a User attempts to tick off the completed action items they are unable to save the changes with the following message in response
and their changes are lost when the page refreshes. What else do I need to do to allow edit permission?
Am I wrong or does the user not need to edit the page to select the checkbox next to a task? (see https://community.atlassian.com/forums/App-Central-articles/Confluence-as-a-Lightweight-Project-Management-tool-Status-amp/ba-p/2595877) The selection should automatically be saved. The user should also be able to mark the task complete from their Tasks list (Home page > Tasks or avatar picture > Tasks).
There was a similar issue recently, but this bug ticket is marked as Fixed: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-76983
@Jenny O_Connell Does this bug sound like what you are experiencing? If so, you might want to comment there to say that it needs to be reopened.
Also, it looks like your second screenshot is the More actions menu next to the page title in the content tree. To edit the page, the user would select the Edit icon on the page and then Update the page to publish any changes.
Hi @Barbara Szczesniak, it seems not, but there was a clue in one of the comments on that bug ticket so thanks for sending that through.
I think it might be because I had created a summary page of the action items in a folder using the macro Task Report and I needed to give them permission to edit the individual pages where the tasks came from. Which is not ideal but it solved the problem.

Hi @Jenny O_Connell ,
The page has 2 permissions, View and Edit.
Eventually, the user may have view permission but not the edit; on top the user may have edit permission as well, but page restriction would be another case.

The ability to Edit a page in a space is determined by the Space level permission setup.
To edit, the user must be either a part of a Group that can edit (Add pages permission) or must be set up as an individual user with the specific permissions set for the given space.
(of course, you can then apply individual restriction to a page)
