Page property macro in a layout

Kaj Sennelöv

I'm trying to add a page property macro with its table in the right pane of the two-column layout.

Even if the content of the right column of the table inside the page property macro does not have that much content in it, the scroll bar is present.

Is there a way to eliminate this scrollbar as it is not needed to scroll to the right?

Hi @Kaj Sennelöv ,

In the new Confluence editor , it's no longer possible to manually set a custom width to a table. Here's an excerpt from the docs

The width of each column is set to a percentage of the page width, so your columns will grow or shrink as your page size changes. Using the width switcher to the right of the layout, you can determine how much white space appears on either side of your layout. If a column includes an item that's too wide for it, you'll see a horizontal scroll bar when viewing the page.

Here are some of the table-related open issues (feature requests) that you might want to check out and comment or vote on:

Not able to resize table when page is in full width
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-67831

Set custom widths in tables
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-67748

Page Properties Report Macro - Ability to define column widths
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-67089

We have resigned ourselves to only using the Page Properties macro in the default "centered" page layout at the bottom of each page. It's not as small as we'd like it, but at least there isn't a scroll bar.

Best wishes, Sharon

Thanks, Sharon!
That already explains a bit.

Very occasionally it works though...

Yesterday I worked from a template with the page properties macro in a layout column and one out of 10 times I clicked on the template, the scroll bar was not present.
Very random if you ask me.

Hi @Kaj Sennelöv

how does it look like when you publish the site?

Is it the full width? I would try to go fully width - make the small table manually.

Hi Fabienne

Only when the page is not on full width but the "layout: 2 columns" is on full width the scroll bar is gone. for all other options, the scroll bare is enabled.

This is though not the nicest / most readable styling in my opinion...

hi @Kaj Sennelöv

understand you! Did you try to change the width of the table manually, cause in your screenshot it seems like your table doesn't need the full width.

Table widths are determined by you. The width selector to the right of the table lets you switch between fixed-width, wide, and full-width.

Or is it always back on full-width when you insert page properties?

Hi @Fabienne Gerhard,

As Sharon mentioned, manually changing the total width of a table is not possible.

In the screenshot above, I can only move the middle vertical line, making the title column smaller or larger and thus the other column larger or smaller.

Hi @Kaj Sennelöv

I tried out and was all about mentioning it - thanks @Sharon Helms for jumping in! Kudos!!
