Parent page of older versions macro

ATS Team _ BASF February 16, 2022

Hello everyone,

we have a nice little user macro in use which goes like:

#contentLink2($content.getParent() false false)

This works fine for the page itself (shows a link to the parent page). As soon as there is a new version of the page, the link vanishes in the older versions of the document. This properly makes sense since the page is now a version and hence no longer the child. Anyhow does anyone know an automated solution to still show the (former) parent page.

Best regards

Felix

Hi @ATS Team _ BASF

Can you try to explain a bit clearer.

What I understand:

  • You have a Page A
  • You have a Subpage B. Page A is the parent of Subpage B
  • You have a macro on Subpage B, and this links to Page A
  • Now you update Page A and on Subpage B is the link broken?

Thanks for clarification

Thanks for looking into this. Actually it is like:

  • I have a Page A
  • I have a Subpage B. Page A is the parent of Subpage B
  • I have a macro on Subpage B, and this links to Page A
  • Now I update Page B (from verion 1 to version 2)
  • On B.2 the link still works but on B.1 the link just vanishes.

Best regards

Felix

I think the problem is the macro. On an old version, macros could do some strange things :)

  • Why you need the correct link in the history?
  • Why you need the link with a macro and not manual?

Honestly, I don't know how to fix this, sorry.

Regards, Dominic
