Hello, I would like to use SharePoint as a standard for documentation repository?

Can someone provide details to connect these two.

Thank you for your reply, but this sounds complicated?  I'm not looking to add complexity to the environment.

It all depends on your requirements. You can keep both these systems separate and just add links to one another (eg: add document link from sharepoint to confluence page or vice versa) if you don't want to invest in a plugin.
