Possible display bug with new Confluence updates

Kathryn Blais October 28, 2021

I am working on editing my own personal page where I keep a checklist of daily tasks to do. However I noticed a big difference in the formatting between my main Personal Page where I have it linked to display, and the actual page itself. The main things I noticed were that the spacing is double on the actual page (which I guess makes sense, but it is now a hassle to look at compared to before where I could see everything on the one screen I now how to scroll up and down. Ideally I would much prefer the spacing to be smaller by default or have an option to change spacing width). The other thing is the difference in Status macros, particularly in coloring (see attached image below). On the actual page I have my daily tasks, one of the status macros displays as blue. On the actual page that is linked and shown on my personal page it displays as grey.Normal spacing of to-dos linked to Personal Page.pngVery spaced out to-do page.pngIncorrect Status macro color linked to Personal page.pngIncorrect Status macro color actual page.png

Hi @Kathryn Blais Welcome to the Atlassian Community!!!

What could be happening here is that some pages of your personal space were created using the legacy editor, while on other places in the site, it was used the new editor instead, and vice versa, which could be causing some issues or confusion there.

However, it is possible to convert legacy editor pages into the new editor, upon editing it and clicking on the message "you can now convert your existing pages to the new editing experience." which is usually on the bottom of the page or above the page title. :)

See if that helps!

Excellent point! I actually performed the conversion for both of these pages already this morning. Interestingly, this is occurring after the conversion. In regards to the Status macros, I tried deleting my to-do list page as an included page on my personal page then re-adding it as an included page. It still seems to be doing the same thing

In the new editor, you can choose to switch to the legacy editor, I think that might help here, its explained here on this thread.

I used the /include page instead of {include page to add the page in. Doesn't seem to have changed anything, but it's not a huge deal either way. I just hope they update the line spacing to be smaller soon. Everything is too spaced out on individual pages

Thanks for your help!

@Kathryn Blais what version of Confluence are you using?  Server or Cloud?

My guess is if you are using server, there may be a setting that is changing your colors. I test the use case above in Confluence Cloud and my colors are not changing.

Excellent question! I'm not entirely sure how to even check for that. I access it from my web browser if that helps

Or it could be a theme installed to comply with 508 compliance.
