We want to make our old Confluence 4.3.7 on "server-A" go away. We want to build a new Confluence 6.7.0 on "server-B". However, we have a digital-ton of dead content on the old server which we do not want anymore. The content editors need time to work with the staff and determine which content is still used and should be brought over to the new Confluence. We've also got plugins that need to come over.
Since the content editors need time, I would like to run both sites for a while. In the end (just one or two months), the old Confluence on the old server will be shut down and go away permanently.
I have over 80 users, so I need the 100-user license on both (the 10-user dev license won't do it).
Can I put the 100-user license on both while they're both running? Is this permitted? Or do I need to do this a different way?
For the record, it is my intention to respect Atlassian's licensing requirements.
We would rather you use developer licenses for non-production instances: How to use developer licenses and to whom are they available?
The technical contact for the license can create a developer key by following these steps:
- Log in to My Atlassian.
- Click the Atlassian product in question - your account management screen will display.
- In the Actions section click "View Developer License."
- Review the Developer License agreement.
- Finally, click "View" to agree. Then it presents a license key. Copy and paste this key into your development server.
You may create more than one license key if running multiple pre-productions, for example, development, testing, and QA, servers.
Excellent, thank you.
And the developer license will support the 80+ users I need?

Yes, Mike, it will be a 100-user developer license based on your 100-user commercial license. I found a Confluence-specific kb: How to get a Confluence Developer license
