Save Draft & Save in Edit Metadata

Victor FLUCHAIRE June 9, 2021

Hello, I would like to know the difference between those 2 buttons - Save Draft and Save when I want to edit a metadata.

Steps:

  • I'm working with Confluence 7.4.4.
  • When I click on the button Edit Metadata at the top right of my page I have the following windows which appears to modify metadata with those 3 options at the bottom right:

TwoSaveButtons.PNG

I tried to find a solution with the documentation but I did not find anything.

I thank you in advance for the answers and leads you could give me to explain this special case.

Best regards.

Hi @Victor FLUCHAIRE welcome to the Atlassian community.

When you say metadata, may I know if you are referring to any market place plugin (macro) or some kind of properties you see in the confluence?

Stay safe and stay healthy.

Hello,

First of all thank you for your answer and the welcoming message.
Sorry for the late reply, I had some issues with notifications on this subject.

We are using an old version of "Comala Metadata" when it was called "Metadata Plugin". I was enabled to find documentation on it because of the merging between those both plugins. And I think the issue came for this use of an old plugin outdated.

I will try on a more recent version with Comala Metadata.

Thanks for pointing the importance of the plugin.

Have a nice day, take care.

Hi @Victor FLUCHAIRE

The button 'edit metadata' you mention is more likely to be from Communardo Metadata for Confluence. However I do not believe that app changes the appearance or behaviour of the page edit save buttons.

I suggest that you (or your Global Admin) go through each add-on installed in your instance and disable each one in turn to determine which app is provides this capability. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/upm/disabling-and-enabling-apps-273875716.html for more information.

Thanks @James Conway for this lead.

I will try to follow it and I will keep this ticket update if I found the source of this issue.

Best regards.

Hi @Victor FLUCHAIRE

James is right, this looks like our Metadata for Confluence app. In a really old version of the app (<= 2.0) we had an issue like this. To solve it, please update the app to the latest version. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/upm/updating-apps-273875710.html for more information.

In case you have other issues or questions regarding Metadata, please don't hesitate and reach out to us.

Thanks for your answer Ronny.

I'm a little confuse because I don't found Metadata for Confluence plugin in the Manage Apps page in Confluence Administration.

Did you know if some modules of Metadata for Confluence can be include in other plugins?

I think at one time we had both plugin for Metadata in our Confluence:

  • Metadata for Confluence
  • Comala Metadata

Nevertheless, I will try the both solution you suggest and keep this tread update. Thanks a lot for your leads.

Best regards.

Victor

Hi Victor,

including some modules from one plugin in another is theoretically possible but usually not done as modules are often not so isolated that this would be an easy task. Moreover, taking features from some plugin and add it to your own could have legal implications.

If Metadata for Confluence is not in the list of installed apps, another plugin might cause the issue. Therefore, I'd suggest that you follow James' idea and disable the user installed apps one after another to see which provides the feature.

Best regards
