I have a table that is created on a confluence page.
One of the columns we have priorities of projects listed in the table. For example 1a,1b,1c,1d,1e,2a,2b So it needs to be sorted numerically then alphabetically.
So when I click the "Priority" column to sort by it doesn't sort them like you see above. it has them out of order. For example I see 1b,1c,1e,1a,1d,2b,2a - so it is only sorting them numerically.
Any ideas?
A comment on our report of the issue indicates it was fixed, but I tried on Confluence 6.9.0 and the sorting in tables hasn't been "sorted". I updated the issue with that version. Please do comment or vote on the report to communicate with the development team: Tables are sorted incorrectly
I am having the same problem I am on Confluence 6.4.2 and I created a table with functionality vs release, with emoticon in the column when it is in the release and n/a if it isn't in any release. It sorts all the n/a rows at the top but none of my columns are grouped by their emoticon. I will re-do again, this is the second time already. The first design I had all the features and had one column for release and entered either 4.7.3 or 4.7.5 or n/a and it still wouldn't sort .

I found a plugin that seems to be doing the trick for me. It is called Table Enhancer for Confluence. plus it's free. I am on 6.4.3.
Here is a link to the marketplace listing https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211609/table-enhancer-for-confluence?hosting=server&tab=overview
It might work for your use-case as well :)

Hi Tim: Thanks, do I need to get our Confluence admin to install this? We are a pretty big IT shop and not sure how long it will take to get it installed. It does look like it addresses the problem though. BTW, I just decided not to be fancy, and just use x's instead, so that is my workaround.

Yes, you would need somebody with Confluence Administration rights to install the plugin. The installation of the plugin itself is fairly simple and takes a matter of seconds.
It solved my problem instantly. Might be worth if it annoys you enough like it did for me.
