First issue: We have the tenant home page set to the "dashboard" page in the admin center. However, going to https://[ tenant ].atlassian.net takes people to the "Your work" page instead. This is a bummer because there is no way to customize the "Your work" page with company info or logo or anything else; only the "Activity" page allows that kind of customization, and we want to be able to add links and other info that everyone sees when they login.
Second issue: We do not have the option to customize (I am a tenant admin) the sidebar, as mentioned in this article.
Please help, if you can.
Thanks.
How is everything going, Charisma?
Looking at your First Issue. I would like to understand if you are referencing the following documentation:
Your Second Issue seems a little disconnected from the first. The documentation you linked points to our Self-Hosted solution, Confluence Server. Here you can check some differences between Server and Cloud:
To deal with the issue, our Cloud documentation might help you out with this situation. Have a look here:
An excerpt from this document might help to get things started:
Choose what content lives in your space sidebar: Hover over the bottom right of the space sidebar, and click on the pencil icon that appears to start customizing your sidebar:
Let us hear from you, Charisma! Looking forward to your reply.
@Diego , you definitely answered one of my questions, and that was if it is possible to customize the sidebar in Cloud. And it looks like, along with any other customization, they've removed that from Cloud, too. Good to know. Bleh.
As for my first question, about the homepage of the site, the issue is that "dashboard" now refers to any one of three pages in Confluence: The Activity page, the Space page, or the "Your work" page. In the Cloud admin panel, just like in Server, you can pick "dashboard" -OR- any other site page in the tenant to be the home page of the tenant. Right now, we have chosen, "dashboard." When someone in our tenant clicks on the little Confluence icon in the sidebar, they are taken to what is indicated in the Server on-prem docs here as the Activity page of the dashboard. This is where we always want people to go when they click this icon, so this is correct. HOWEVER, we also want this to be the page people are directed to as soon as they login to our tenant at https://[ tenant ].atlassian.net. This is not the case. When people first login, they are taken to the "Your work" page. As no customization is allowed on the "Your work" page, we are unable to put little notes on that page or links to sites, and many people do not purposefully click the little Confluence icon to get to the Activity page -- the page we can *actually* customize. SO. . . hopefully now you see the issue:
We want the Activity page to be the homepage when first logging in (i.e., accessing https://[ tenant ].atlassian.net) -AND- when clicking the little COnfluence icon on the sidebar. The icon on the sidebar works properly; accessing our root site does *not*. This is how it works in SharePoint; someone navigates to https://[ tenant ].sharepoint.com and they are routed to the the page we've directed to be the home page. This is expected functionality on any software where a homepage is indicated -- or actually, on *any* website, period. When I build a web site, I set a page as the homepage; that is the page that people are directed to when they access the root site. This is what we want to have happen when setting a homepage on Confluence Cloud, as occurs in Server.
