Strange text behavior in Confluence Edit

Hello all,

I am hoping that someone can explain this.

I encountered some lines of text that only appear in edit mode, and are not visible after being published.

The text is highlighted in light gray and cannot be edited (in edit mode). I can select all and copy it (paste as plain text). When I select the text, all the text attributes become disabled. I can't do anything but delete the line. See example text in edit mode: Line 1 - Text that I cannot change/does not appear when published; Line 2 - Copied and pasted as plain text.

If I were to guess, this text is some sort of non-visible comment text, but I don't know how it was set.

Can anyone explain this behavior?

Thank you,

Hi @Shawn in Van,

Seems like you are using a template for creating a page. The template contains an instructional text which is visible only in edit mode and is useful for a user to understand the content.

Here is the Atlassian link for the same https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/create-a-template-296093779.html#CreateaTemplate-Instructionaltext

Thanks,

Sravya

Ha ha...

Now I feel silly. Re-reading the text again, I now see that it's template text, rather than content written by the author of the page.

I really need more sleep.

Thank you for helping. :)
