As I prepare to open this new corporation for business this coming Fall, upgrades were the topic of discussion this morning.
This morning I am able to find that Jira-server, latest release, is supporting PostgreSQL v11. However, the latest version of Confluence, v7.5.2, is not from what I can find. I really would prefer to install one copy of PostgreSQL, v11, to support Confluence and Jira on the same server. Otherwise its going to, sadly, be v10.
I am unable to find a recent product release roadmap that shows when Confluence will support v11. Can anyone provide me with an update or link to a roadmap? Does anyone have 7.5.2 running v11 without issue?
While I realize moving to the cloud release resolves these questions, the server release is being used here as a part of our technical documentation portfolio. As will the cloud release later on. Prospects love choice.
Thank you in advance!
Jack
Hello @Jack ! As I understand, you need to deploy Confluence and Jira within the same PostgreSQL version and it would be best if the latest could be used.
Currently, there is no Roadmap for future releases of our Server solution for Confluence for us to share.
The best solution in the situation described is indeed the usage of PostgreSQL 10, as it is also listed as a supported version for Jira Latest version.
You can check more about the supported platforms for both applications here:
As for your question about using PostgreSQL 11 with Confluence 7.5. It is never advisable to run applications outside their intended platforms.
I hope this answers your question!
Hi Diego,
Not the answer I wanted to hear but will have to accept. I know that the postgres project has stepped up their game on releases and retiring old. That is why I am asking the question.
But do let me ask you this. Where can I find the corporate development roadmap for Jira, Service Desk, Confluence, etc.? I was shown one at Summit 2019 in Las Vegas so I know it exits. If you could provide me with a link or send a pdf, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for responding. As I now am ready to open the door on my 2nd startup, I will be participating more as the new corporation is endorsing the Atlassian platform to its users and prospects across North America.
Heh... 2nd venture is much more fun that retirement!
