The Mermaid renderer adds redundant padding for UML Sequence diagrams

Lanré Oyewole April 1, 2025

When I create a UML Sequence diagram with the Mermaid plugin, the diagram is rendered with empty space covering several rows (padding) below the image. This can be misleading for viewers/readers, as it appears that the document has ended, whereas there is more text following the diagram.

Is there a way to configure the plugin to remove the padding or perhaps some annotation that I can use within each diagram to force-remove any padding below/following the image.

Thanks.

Hi @Lanré Oyewole

Could you please clarify which Mermaid plugin you are using?

Also, sharing a screenshot would be useful so our community members could have a better understanding of your scenario.

We are using the Mermaid diagrams for Confluence plugin.

Here is a screenshot showing the name of the plugin and a diagram with padding below it:

Thanks for the information @Lanré Oyewole

Perhaps it would be best to reach out to the app vendor's support so they could assist you with their app. Below is a Marketplace link pointing to their Support tab:
