Hi, I was reading through the upgrading instruction and I noticed that JAVA (JRE) was included. My team are currently using 1.8.0_121 and we cannot switched until next year due to our requirements. Is there away to upgrade confluence without upgrading java? would I have to upgrade manually instead? Is it not possible to use newer confluence with an older java?
Thank you!
Hello,
Confluence comes bundled with JRE which is updated together with Confluence during the upgrade process, however, you can choose to your own Java instead of the bundled one, that way even though bundled is updated, system one will still be used. If you currently using bundled JRE, you can switch to system one following How to use system Java instead of the bundled JRE guide.
Regards,
Igor
Hi @markxsimu,
Yes, you can Upgrade confluence to latest version ie 6.8.0 without upgrading java. (Yesterday only i have upgraded confluence from v6.5.0 to confluence v6.8.0 and we are using java v 1.8.0_171).
you can use the latest version of the confluence with an older java but the java version should be min 1.8
