We use Confluence as our company intranet and a place to store technical documentation.
I have had feedback from users that when they move from one space to another, they are required to log in again. This is frustrating for them, and means they consider Confluence difficult to navigate.
Why is this happening? Any way I can make it easier? I haven't encountered this problem myself.
Dear @Louise MacBean,
I have a suspicion. The auto logout timer. By default it is set to 10 min.
Go as an Admin to -> General Configuration -> Security Configuration and increase the value (Secure administrator sessions) from 10 to 30 (or more or disable).
So long
Thomas
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for your reply. I took a look at this, and it seems that the 'Secure administrator sessions' setting only affects administrators using admin access.
The problem we are having is general users (not administrators) being requested to log in when they access different spaces on the same confluence site.
Could be a problem with IE, maybe? I noticed Confluence works better for me in Chrome.

You are right - but i remember that there was also some auto log out for non admins.

It says that the default session timeout is 5 hours - my users are being prompted to log in again after only a few minutes? It is only happening when they try to go to another space.

I had a look at my settings (unmodified default):
<session-config>
<session-timeout>60</session-timeout>
<tracking-mode>COOKIE</tracking-mode>
</session-config>
This means, after 60 minutes of inactivity the session is deleted.
