What are all the anchors on the page when I import a word document?

Plus the headings from the TOC just disappear but they are there if you highlight the section. (highlighted in blue and beside the top two anchors in the image)Screenshot (14).png

Welcome to Word import! Clearly Word has anchors pre-installed for your convenience. ;-)I think they are links used for the ToC.

I just delete them. I also try to clean out everything from the Word document before I import:

  • Delete title pages and and ToC.
  • Delete page headers and footers
  • Make sure that all headings are formatted using the built-in names

Then after import, I use the Regex capabilities of the source editor to clean out other stuff, or replace br tags with p tags.

This may be a stupid question but, how do you get into the source editor in Confluence? I can only see the visual editor!

It is a free add-on: confluence-source-editor. I use it everyday to fix issues, or for much better find/replace.
