What do the dotted lines indicate in the Confluence "Analytics" tool graph?

The Confluence "Analytics" tool displays a graph that contains Views, Created, and Updated data (for both space and page analytics). What do the dotted lines at the end points indicate? I'm not able to find the answer in any of the Atlassian Confluence documentation or the Atlassian Community.

My guess is that the Analytics tool is still receiving data, and once all of the relevant data has been collected, the dotted lines become a solid ones.
