What is the difference between AUI TAB and the navitab macro? How to decide when to use what?

I have been working with TABs and would like to understand the different between AUI and NaviTab Macro and how to decide which one to use in which context?

You have to buy Navitabs, AUI tabs are (still) free.
You should read through what the respective plugin can do and decide whether you need it.
