Hi,
this is my first post here. I hope I am not asking anything too stupid :)
I write a lot of draft notes in pure ascii, with certain syntax like # and ## to titles, or - for bullet lists. Then, a straight copy & paste into Confluence works, and everything is converted with the right layout.
But I cannot figure out how to do it for the usernames, e.g. @neo Matrix. It just get copied as text, no link to the user's profile.
Is there a way to achieve this?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Cheers,
Jose
Welcome to the community
The markdown syntax for a user is: [~username]
See all Confluence Cloud markdown options here.
Thanks a lot for the prompt response. However, I am not sure how to do it. If I just try with [~Jose Caballero Bejar] is doesn't get converted into @Jose Caballero Bejar
I have also tried with my user id [~610bbda1ecaaaaaaaaaaa] but no luck either.
What am I missing here?
Many of the things in that documentation https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-confluence-wiki-markup/ don't seem to get converted automagicallly into Confluence style. They just get copied verbatim.
Cheers,
Jose

@Jose Caballero Bejar are you using Legacy editor or a third-party app to add wiki markup? if not then I am afraid the new editor doesn’t support markup.

Not sure about the Legacy editor. How do I find out? But I guess the answer is no. We use the Cloud one, if that answer the question.
And I am not aware of any app being installed for our instance.

nope. It just stays as it is. No conversion.
So I am guessing it is not possible.

That's probably, because "[" triggers the Confluence macro selector
Just copy and pasting this will not be seen as a trigger to select a Confluence macro, but just as verbatim.
I also see that the markdown option I provided where in relation to the old Legacy Editor in Confluence.
Markdown options in New Confluence Editor: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/available-markdown-commands/
The new editor doesn't support user mentions in markdown.
