Hi there,
I am relatively new to Confluence and I have a Virtual Machine running Windows 2016 Server with Confluence 7.18.1 and I want to rename my server to something more descriptive, will this action cause any issues with displaying content, images, or redirecting links?
Hi @Caleb Steen, welcome to the Atlassian community
By rename the server I assume you mean changing its hostname?
The answer depends on your setup. If your users are accessing Confluence by browsing to the machine's hostname of course that would break things.
But if you have a an hostname alias, a reverse proxy or any other solution where the users do not use the hostname directly I think you should be fine.
Confluence will not hardcode the hostname anywhere if that's your concern.
Hi Charlie,
Yes I meant changing the hostname. You were correct, I am using an alias and it did not break anything. Thank you!
