Work on confluence themes without impacting the users?

shadowrunner April 25, 2018

Is it possible on work on a new theme without impacting the users?

The company wants to use plug-ins like image slider and such in the header if possible, the issue is that I'm not too comfortable

We already have Refined Theme to make it easier on me since I'm not a coder

If it's not possible, then is it possible to have a test instance that's a copy of the new instance with the same plugin without having to buy all of the licenses again?

Thanks!

I would suggest you clone your current instance and use your developer license to do testing. That way you can have your present (as of the time of the clone) Confluence server with all plugins and test without impacting the production instance.

Agreed. You need a UAT environment to test any add-ons and updates.

Thanks for the reply.

With the developer license, will any add-on we already bought also work on the test instance?

@shadowrunnerAll add-ons have their own developer license. You will want to make sure these are updated in your UAT/DEV environment.

  1. You can access the dev licenses from: https://my.atlassian.com/product
  2. Expand the add-on (near SEN)
  3. Click view developer license
