how to i set up a new space

when creating a new site I am asked to select a "space" this site will sit under, none of the spaces are correct so I would like to create a new space

Hello @Thomas Byrne

If you have the Create Space Global Permission, you will see the option Create space in the upper menu under Spaces. 

Otherwise, please talk to your Confluence Administrator.

thanks for the reply, would you know how I find my confluence admin?

I cant seem to find anything on the homepage.
