Removing Confluence from a user, removes his group !

Alain Goodarzi July 5, 2018

I have a DEV group with some users and it is working fine for all members.

Newly I have added a new user, but when I add him to the DEV group, Jira and Confluence both activate for him.

If I try to un-check the  Confluence checkbox, the group DEV also removes from his account.

I have tried from othet paths, anyways if I remove Confluence from this user application, he will remove from DEV group as well. It seams user need to have both Jira and Confluence access to be able to be added to the DEV group.

What I am missing here?

Hi Alain,

Based off the information you’ve provided, it sounds like you’re running Confluence and Jira Cloud. It also sounds like the DEV group was configured to have default access to both Confluence and Jira. When you add a user to the DEV group, they get both app access because of the default.

Moving forward, I suggest changing the DEV group to one application default, or add the user to a different group. You can read more about managing groups and users in Cloud in the documentation below:

I hope that information helps!
