Hi,

We where attacked by a malware and we have lost the backups of our Confluence Instance. On the other hand we have the MSQL Database intact. Can we restore our Instance in a fresh installation and how?

Also, the directory structure of Confluence survived. any chance for some help?

Anything will be greatly appreciated.

Nick

Hi Nikos,

Confluence data consist of some directories in filesystem along with the database.

In case you really just lost the backups you can do new backups and will be just fine.

Apart from that there is the possibility of XML backups and restores. I doubt this will apply here. This is more interesting in case you want to migrate to a different database.

As for restoring the status quo you described above is not understandable to me. You would need to further describe what the current status is. Briefly, you would have to restore the directories to filesystem - along with the database. For both I would use "stock" tooling of the OS along with tools for the database (MSSQL?).

A more generic article on Confluence restores you can find here.

Cheers,
Daniel
