I since yesterday we have a interesting case on our confluence:
We not upgrade a plugin or change everything other. Or a update on confluence.
We tried to recreate the search index. Clear the plugin cache (folders), clear the index/ folders. Restart confluence and the ubuntu in backend. Run the "Repair the Ancestors Table" job.
Anybody an idea?
The logs has not really a message where I read the problem.
JS Errors only: "no search-ui element found"
Thanks!
Hi, we fixed it! It was a bad combination of wrong index and a scriptrunner script from us. But big thank you for all tips!
Hi @Steffen Stamprath ,
have you set any customizations in the Look and Feel Section of the admin console? If so, clear one after the other (best on a test instance) until everything is on Atlassian's default settings to see if any of them causes the issue. If the issue persists, remove user macros (if you have any) and run the system in safe mode (deactivate 3rd party apps) to rule out plugins and macros.
If you don't succeed reach out for the support.
Kind regards,
Nicolai

That.. sounds interesting.
You would likely be better off creating a support zip and sending it to Atlassian though - my first request would be to see the atlassian-confluence.log while you are restarting Confluence, because this should log something if this is a system problem. Now of course with logs, depends how you feel about sharing those in public since they might potentially contain sensitive data.
Second would be to see the behaviour in browser, namely a HAR file when you open a page and then try to click around to get the sidebar opened. Again, HAR file could potentially contain sensitive data such as authentication cookie, url's, content, so this depends once more if you're willing to sanitize it for the public.
All in all, raising a ticket with Atlassian would be your quickest way and you wouldn't need to spend half a day sanitizing log(s) or har files.
I kind of assume but it wasn't said specifically, all users are affected by this, or only some? Might as well be a browser issue, something to try, but if everybody is affected that's not that likely.

Hi Stamprath,
It possibly mean that the Confluence license has expired. In that case, system simply disables features in the main header such as:
Kindly verify if this is causing the issue.

Thanks, but the license is valid (user count and expire date)

This sounds like some corruption with the database. If you haven't already tried, I suggest restoring the Confluence from the backup.
Please check the below link for restoring
Thanks,
Aamir
