I'm looking for some suggestions how to index or locate a large number of .doc files within Confluence v7.4.0. We're rapidly adopting Confluence for new projects and new documents are created natively in Confluence, but these legacy documents are hard to find now and thus not able to be found even when they are needed.
These would be much more accessible if they were searchable from Confluence directly, where the new content is. These are ~1000 files, and around 150MB total .doc files.
One obvious way is to attach them to the space, but I worry about overwhelming it and this sounds highly manual. Do you have suggestions on plugins or techniques that could help us make this transition?
Hello Brett,
this Enterprise Search Solution "iFinder Confluence Search" would help.
It is is not only a plugin. You need a separate server (vm) and you will get an high end search engine - based on linguistic analyzer (available for more then 30 languages) which bring the best effectiv results.
It is 100% embedded in Confluence (Server & Datacenter) and you have the option to connect further sources like file shares, jira, etc. into that search.
Let me know, if you like to do a trial.
Best
Robby
Thanks for the reference, Robby, I will check it out. This looks like it could do much more than just what I need for this project..
