Should I be able to insert a draw.io diagram into a Global Template?

I want to be able to insert the draw.io diagram macro into a Global Template, create a basic diagram and then allow adaptation of the draw.io diagram within pages using that template. I received an error when attempting to insert the macro into my Global Template (see attached).

Should this be possible?

Hi Kimberly,

At the moment, it's not possible to add a diagram so the best option is to create a diagram in a separate master page, then embed the diagram to other pages manually.
