Strategy: Confluence Server or Confluence onDemand

Hi.

We've run Confluence for 5 years now, standalone Tomcat deployed version. It all has been driven on win2003srv, and since Microsoft now is going to phase out that version we need to upgrade os.

Does anyone know about good documentation that describes pros / cons about choosing cloud or own dedicated server? 

 Does anyone have experience with both versions?

One thing to consider is any plugins, etc that you may use.

Check that they are available with the onDemand offering.

Another that is more personal to me, I like to be able to maintain/backup/fiddle with my own server, so the onDemand version limits this ability.
