Hello everyone,
I’m part of the documentation team at GNC Packaging, and we’re in the process of rolling out a centralized Confluence space to capture all our design, production and quality-control standards for Custom Kraft Boxes. Since packaging often involves multiple stakeholders—designers, printers, project managers, and sales reps—we want our Confluence pages to be:
Easy to navigate: intuitive hierarchy and labels help folks quickly find “die-line specs” vs. “sustainability requirements.”
Version-controlled: clear audit trail whenever someone updates dimensions or material calls.
Richly illustrated: embedding artwork proofs, dimensioned drawings and finish examples (e.g., matte vs. gloss).
Approval-ready: a lightweight workflow so that once Marketing signs off on the dieline, it automatically notifies Production.
What we’ve tried so far:
Created a “Packaging & Boxes” parent page with child pages for each product line.
Used the “Page Properties” macro to tag pages with attributes like “Material: Kraft” or “Print runs: 500–5,000.”
Set up a manual review label (needs-review
) and asked teammates to watch pages, but updates still slip through without formal sign-off.
My questions to the community:
Space structure: Would you recommend a flat list of pages (e.g. one per SKU) or a deeper hierarchy (by customer → by SKU → by version)?
Macros & templates: Are there Confluence templates or marketplace apps you’ve found indispensable for versioning technical specifications?
Workflow tips: How do you enforce a simple “in review → approved → published” flow without over-engineering approvals?
Rich media: Best practice for hosting high-res dieline PDFs? Should they live in Confluence attachments or link out to a shared drive?
I’m particularly keen on keeping this space lightweight so our designers and printers can jump in without wrestling with too many clicks. Any examples or page blueprints would be hugely appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your insights—looking forward to building something that truly serves everyone at GNC Packaging.
