Team calendar - recurring tasks for last business day of week, month

Gabi Griffiths July 10, 2025

Hi all,

We have recurring tasks that need to occur on the last business day of the week or month etc.  Is confluence able to consider if the last day is a weekend or public holiday and set the recurring task accordingly.

For example for a weekly task, if this Friday is a public holiday, then the task should be set for this Thursday.

Thank you.

@Gabi Griffiths Confluence Calendars delivered functionality does not take into account holidays or other date exceptions for reoccurring events.  @Angela Thomas_Seibert Group suggested an app that provides additional functionality on top of the delivered product.  You can search for apps when the delivered product does not meet your needs. https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=checklists&product=confluence&hosting=cloud

Hey Brant ,

Thanks for summarising the answers.   Our team is pretty new to confluence, so confirmation on what functionality can/can't be done is really helpful :)

Hello @Gabi Griffiths

Confluence doesn’t support native checklist templates, but there’s a workaround: you can use action items (checkboxes) inside a page template . When you create a new page from that template, the checklist appears. Just keep in mind that everything else on that page template will come along with it, so it’s not ideal if you only want the checklist.

If you're looking for standalone, reusable checklist templates, you might want to explore the Atlassian Marketplace for apps that extend Confluence’s capabilities. I’m part of the product team at Didit Checklists for Confluence, and our app is designed exactly for use cases like yours.

With the app, you can configure recurring tasks that are set up as shown below:

While it's not currently possible to automatically display a checklist in Confluence after a missed public holiday, users do receive an email notification during the holiday if a checklist becomes due. When they return to work, that email serves as a reminder that the checklist needs to be completed.Additionally, we offer the ability to notify the checklist template manager via email whenever a checklist misses its due date, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.

I welcome you to try the app for 30 days for free and see if it suits your needs.

Thanks Angela, I'm not sure if my team will pursue the app, but thanks for highlighting the option!  Much appreciated.
