Unable to permanently stop watching a page

There are at least two Confluence pages that default to Watching no matter what I do.

If I untick the Watch Page option on the page itself and then refresh the page, it automatically changes back to Watching.

Even if I go into Settings -> Watches and click on Stop Watching from there, the page will default back to Watching once I refresh it.

I did not create the page or contribute in any way.

Does anyone know what would cause this and how to stop this from happening?

We do not have that plugin installed.

The Watch functionality is the default functionality that Confluence offers.

You have an Autowatch setting in plain Confluence: go to your profile > Settings > Email, You should have an Edit button, click on it and then you'll be able to untick "Autowatch":

Ah I see.

Turning Autowatch off does indeed fix my original issue.

Having the same problem with one user now, even if I log in as her via one addon, I unwatch the pages and once refreshed all back in. She used to have access to that space but now no more and cannot unwatch it anyhow.

so what worked as a workaround - give back the user read permissions, unwatch the pagest, remove permission again. It worked, but I find is as an error of Confluence...
