Hi, We have a group that has release certification details they post on a confluence page. Typically for a release certification, it requires a set of approvals from some folks on the management team. These approvals come from the management team in the form of email approvals. Is there a way to attach these approvals to the confluence page automatically when the manager replies to the email with "approve"?

Also the certification team would like an email back when all the managers required have approved. Is something like this possible out of confluence?

Would we be better off integrating in Jira and have the approval process in Jira and attach the Jira issue link on the confluence page?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would suggest using Comala Wokflows for this. Another possibility would be the Page Approval Plugin.

Hi Davin,

I know this post is pretty old, but I am interested in this exact type of plugin. Is there a reason why it isn't available for cloud instances?

Hey @Mark Bishop1, not sure if you're still in the market for a Cloud Approvals app, but our app Comala Approvals has been renamed to Comala Workflows Lite. You can find out more about it here: Comala Workflows Lite.

As to your question about why Comala Workflows isn't available on Cloud, rest assured that we are working to try to give Cloud users the best Workflows experience that we can. Our team continues to work with Atlassian to bring the full Workflows app to Cloud, but unfortunately we have no firm time table as to when that might happen.

Hi Mike we are using a trial version of the Camala Lit to decide whether it suits our needs.

I noticed that in order for reviewers to see the draft version of the document and approve it, they should have Edit Access. typically we do not want this behavior as our process works by which only the Author will be able to Edit the document.

Is there any way around it ?? Thanks

@Nayef Harb ,

What you've noticed is the expected behaviour - in order for a reviewer to approve a page, they must have "Edit" permissions. There is no work around, as this is the default behaviour.

It seems that the cloud version does not hold the page from being published until approval.  Does any plugin do this that you know of?  General question to anyone. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Barb O'Connell

You’re correct that, due to constraints in Atlassian’s Cloud APIs, we aren’t able to offer the same functionality in the Comala Document Control Cloud that we do for Server / Data Center customers. We are actively working towards a solution, and hope to have something we can share before too long.

Kind regards

I added the Page Approval plug in. It is free. Does require going to developers web site to get the license key, but not a big deal if you follow the instructions. Adds a new Page Approval macro that you can insert into your page. Works great.
