Videos added via Chrome on Mac show as white instead of preview thumbnails

Graham Campbell July 25, 2018

A colleague has added videos to a page and embedded them with the Multimedia macro.

All of these videos show for me - and others - correctly in Chrome 64-bit on my Windows 7 PC.

Only some of these videos show up for her on her Mac in her 64-bit Chrome.

She also tried uploading some videos using Firefox, but experiences the same issue - some videos would show up correctly, others display as completely white boxes and don't play.

I've inspected the Storage Format and everything looks correct, as expected since the videos do actually load properly for me and others.

This was previously working for her just fine, as recently as the beginning of this month. But now some videos will just not load for her, but others load perfectly in both preview thumbnail and during play.

Has anyone else experienced this split in Mac to Windows experience? I'm loath to just blame it on the Mac as it was demonstrably working for her previously.

Thanks,

Graham

Hi Graham,

On the system that has the video display issues, do the same videos fail every time? If so, please compare the storage format from a page with videos that work with that from one of the ones that doesn't work, and look for differences in the way the videos are stored.

To view the storage format, use the "View Storage Format" option from the ellipses menu:
