What is the definition of "content" on the System Information page?
it seems like it has two categories: one with all version, and one with the current version.

why are there two different versions?

I've been watching the changes in those numbers for days, and I realized that while the content(current version) increases about 400ish, the content(all version) increases about 2000ish, why is there so much gap?

thanks in advance

Hi @Joe,

The "content" field means the total number of rows in the CONTENT table in Confluence database - this includes all versions of pages, blogs, status updates, comments, user information, drafts, etc.

The "current version" field, on the other hand, means all of the above except it only counts the latest version of each entity.

As a result, you find that for content(current version) shows 400ish whereas content(all version) shows 2000ish.

I hope this information helps.

Regards,
Sudhir

what i am confused is that shouldnt the increase amount of the current version and the all version be the same? since im on the latest confluence version.

is there anyway to increase the older versions contents even though you are using the latest version?

I think you are misunderstanding "version" here.  The version of Confluence has nothing to do with it, Sudhir was referring to versions of the content.

Imagine a simple space where you're just starting out.  You create 5 pages, blog once, and get 10 comments.  This means you have 16 items of content.

Next day, you read through the comments, and edit 3 of the pages as a result, getting interrupted during the third edit, so you wander off.   You still have 16 current content, but now you've got 19 overall content.  The extra 3 are

  • Version 1 of the first page you edited
  • Version 1 of the second page you edited
  • A draft of the third page you are editing

If you edit a page 20 times and leave a draft open, you have 19 versions of the page (with version 19 being "current") and a draft - so 20 items of content.
